ED 468: INTRODUCTORY SUPERVISED TEACHING: ______

ED 478: ADVANCED SUPERVISED TEACHING: ___X___
ED 467: INTERN TEACHING: ______
Candidate: Date:
Alina Sturgis
3-7-17
Content Area: Math Integrated Grade Level:
8
Subject Matter:
Rational Exponents
Lesson Content Description:
-review for quiz, expression in radical form/exponential
form, and solve exponential equations

Instructional Strategies/Method of Delivery:

Class notes (white board), examples/ guided practice problems, assignment
in small groups/ partners.
Common Core Standard:
Students will use what they know about bases and property of equality to
solve rational exponents. Students will express rational exponents in radical
form and exponential form.
ELD Standard:
Interpretive expanding
6. Reading/viewing closely
a. Explain ideas, phenomena, processes, and text relationships (e.g.,
compare/ contrast, cause/effect, problem/solution) based on close reading of
a variety of grade-appropriate texts and viewing of multimedia, with
moderate support.

Common Core Lesson Objective:

CCSS.Math.Content.HSA.APR.D.7
(+) Understand that rational expressions form a system analogous to the
rational numbers, closed under addition, subtraction, multiplication, and
division by a nonzero rational expression; add, subtract, multiply, and divide
rational expressions
CCSS.Math.Content.HSA.SSE.B.3.c
Use the properties of exponents to transform expressions for exponential
functions. For example the expression 1.15t can be rewritten as (1.151/12)12t
1.01212t to reveal the approximate equivalent monthly interest rate if the
annual rate is 15%.

Assessment:
Formative: Oral questioning, discussion, circulating the room, guided practice
problems, homework assignment
Summative: n/a

Lesson/Assessment Modifications: ELL: Special Needs

-video, extra vocabulary support, and oral discussion/ explanation of problems
Technology: Describe the types of technology you will be utilizing in your
lesson to create and enhance instruction
If no technology is used, please explain why.
