Geometry

An understanding of the attributes and relationships of geometric objects can be applied in

diverse contextsinterpreting a schematic drawing, estimating the amount of wood needed to
frame a sloping roof, rendering computer graphics, or designing a sewing pattern for the most
efficient use of material During high school, students begin to formalize their geometry
experiences from elementary and middle school, using more precise definitions and developing
careful proofs. Later in college some students develop Euclidean and other geometries carefully
from a small set of axioms.

Congruence (G-CO)
Similarity, Right Triangles, and Trigonometry (G-SRT)
Circles (G-C)
Expressing Geometric Properties with Equations (G-GPE)
Geometric Measurement and Dimension (G-GMD)

Grade Layout:
15% One homework assignment due each week on Friday. Making 9 per quarter.
40% One test per quarter covering the topics covered that quarter.
20% 2-3 quizzes per quarter to practice skills before the test.
15% One project dealing with real world geometry application.
10% Attendance/participation

Project Grade Description:

The poster project will be graded on presentation of the poster, the analysis of how geometry is
used, analysis of how changing shapes will affect the object, and academic structure of the
paper accompanying the poster.

Extra Credit:
There will be no opportunities for extra credit

Attendance and Expectations:

Attendance will be required in correspondence with the schools policy. Students are expected to
be respectful of others in every setting whether it be peer to peer interactions or while someone
is presenting/sharing. Students are expected to participate in class lessons and group activities.

Late Work Policy:

Homework assignments will be accepted up to one week late for half credit.

Academic Dishonesty:
Academic dishonesty is a serious issue that will be handled by the school administration and
can result from receiving a zero on the assignment or test to ejection from the class or in
extreme cases expulsion.
