CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATION

The objective of this experiment is to study the effect of varying total filtering area to the
separation efficiency. Pulse jet filters have been used to remove particulates from the gaseous
flow streams. The production of the dust cake on the surface of the bag filter improves the
particles collection efficiency and increase the pressure drop. The increase of the number of bags
will increase the efficiency of the pulse jet bag filter. The higher the surface area of the bag filter,
the higher the collection efficiency due to the more dust or particulate matter can be trapped. Its
make 4 bags are more efficient compared to 2 bags. In conclusion, the objective of the
experiment was achieved.

The recommendation for this experiment is avoid from using abrasive particle sample
because it can damage the filter bags. Besides that, before start the experiment clean the
polyester filter bags carefully to prevent from damages to the bags and tend to get inaccurate
results. The bags connections also need to check carefully to ensure the clamps are tight so that
the particles do not leaking. After the experiment, the cleaning mechanism system should be kept
in operation for a few minutes to make sure good removal of collected dust and avoid
unnecessary pressure drop. In addition, do not over clean the filter bag because it can make the
bag filter less efficiency.
