ARTIFACT NAME: Can-Do-Profile

Rationale Statement:

The adaptation project explores alternative tools that will assist a

student in a specific learning environment. The adaptation was created

for a hypothetical student with myotonic dystrophy and delays in

communication. While reading through the case study I decided to

focus on tools that might be accessibly for a young child in public

school as well as tools that could be used in a variety of learning

environments. The device I have chosen to utilize, apple iPad, can be

used within the math class as intended as well as the students other

courses. It can be used to assist in communication and can be

manipulated by the students paraprofessional to benefit the student.

To make every learning environment as inclusive as possible it is

necessary that the teacher evaluates his or her methods of teaching to

fit each learner. By adapting assistive technology for the class (rather

than singling out one student) the teacher is being inclusive as well as

staying up to date with technology. This Adaptation Project gave me

the opportunity to explore the various resources that are available to

students with special needs and gave me ideas of how I can be of

service to my future students.
