The Preparation, Presentation, and Evaluation of a Short Lesson

Notes of guidance

The choice of subject for the micro-teach must be in your own subject
area. However, it is essential that the objectives of the lesson are
achievable by all members of the group. This will require thoughtful
planning in terms of what to teach and how.
The duration of the lesson should be 10 minutes approximately and
must include the following elements:

an appropriate teaching/learning method

clear presentation skills

the use of teaching/learning aids

learner participation

The lesson will be video-recorded for purpose of later reflection.

Assessment criteria

l. production of a structured lesson plan

2. appropriate preparation of the teaching area

3. effective use of method and presentation skills

4. effective use of teaching/learning aids

5. incorporation into the lesson of opportunities for learner participation

6. evaluation, in tutorial, of the micro-teaching session.
