Section 1: Review of Midterm 1

a) I do not feel happy about the grade I received in this exam. I mostly comprehended

what was taught for this exam but did not take the time to study a little more to know

it well. Also what affected my score in this exam was that I did not carefully read the

exam question and missed a part of the problem. Another important part I missed was

the properties of the shapes and to be able to classify them in various forms. The main

problem at the beginning was being able to manage my time well with work and

school. Taking the time to study and not focusing so much on work would have

greatly improved my grade.

b) The problems that were easy for me in this exam had to do with identifying and

labeling. For example identifying the skew lines and explaining why they are skew.

Another one was the drawing and labeling of three different triangles. The Venn

diagrams were not hard either but I did miss one out the two Venn diagrams that were

in the exam. I missed the second one because I was not sure about its properties and

did not know much about the relationship between the three triangles. Mainly the

exam was learning the properties of the shapes and each other relationship which I

believe was not very difficult but acquired some studying.

c) For the problems that I missed for this exam would just be studying more the

properties and characteristics of the shapes. Also knowing the relationship among the

different triangles. I would go over notes and try to quiz myself in the different

characteristics each one has. For this part I would not be worried so much since is

mostly just reviewing the different shapes properties to be able to pass this part of the

exam. Practice with Venn diagrams to help see similarities and differences among the

different shapes as parallelograms, triangles, etc.

Section 2: Review of Midterm 2

a) I felt really good about my score because I had a better score on this exam than the

previous one. Even though I did not think I was going to do very well because I had a lot

of trouble knowing how to transform an ABC triangle to ABC with doing a

combinations of rotations, translations, and reflections. I was okay with doing translations

and reflections. I did just not understand how to do a rotation in the correct manner. For

this exam I did take some time to study because I did not want to get the same grade as

the previous exam. Also another factor was that I did not comprehend the rotations and

tried to practice it.

b) The problems that were easy for me were when I had to use the distance formula and the

Pythagorean Theorem. These two formulas I had previously learned in and was still very

simple to comprehend that right away I understood how to use it in a problem.

Identifying if two triangles are similar and finding x and y for a triangle as well were very

easy. The problems that involved doing rotations were very hard since I was having

trouble understanding the proper way to rotate the triangle. I was mainly confused on

how exactly the triangle would be on the graph when rotated ninety degrees. I believed I

was confused with the negative ninety degrees rotation when doing the positive ninety

degrees.
c) For the topics that were more difficult I will practice doing more rotations with triangles.

Also I can practice doing rotations in transformations so I can do combinations with

reflections and translations. I feel somewhat prepared since I still do not feel very

confident when working with these problems. I feel as I practice more with these

problems I would feel more confident and be able to do the problems easily. Like they
say practice is the key to success as well as studying will help me prepare and be ready

for the exam.

Section 3: Review of Midterm 3

a) I feel really great about my score since this exam had a lot of challenging material that

we needed to learn. Even though I would always love an A, a B is good to accept. I was

actually impressed with my score since I thought I would do much worse since I had

missed a lecture which I know throws me off when coming back to class the next lecture.

There was a lot that we learned as well in a short time and it was done in a speedy way.

There also was not much reviewing and I had to grasp the concept on my own. I also

used a math book from a previous math class that has all the material we are learning to

help me understand the topics better. Finally I spend more time reviewing than the other

exams.
b) The problems that were easy are involving area and changing inches to feet, feet to yard

etc. Just knowing the proper formula helps a lot in solving the problems. The difficult one

was how to find a perimeter of a part of a circle since we did not review this much. Area

of portion of a circle was also challenging since I did not practice much working these

problems. What was difficult for me in these problems was when I had to transform the

footage and be very careful about it because if I forgot to do it in the problem I would get

it wrong as I did for one of them. I guess rereading the problem to make sure I did

everything it asked for would help.

c) To prepare for the final I will make sure I read the problems twice to make sure I did

everything it asked for. Review my work before turning it in would help as well. I would

prepare myself by reviewing problems as those that were in the exam to help me

understand the process. Review what I got right as well so I do not forget it and become
better at it. As I practice, review, and study I would feel prepared enough to do well in the

final exam. For the problems that were difficult in the exam I am going to use them as my

preparation and work with similar ones as those as well.
