Grade: Kindergarten # of Standard: CCSD (K)7.4: form letters of the alphabet correctly Overview: This lesson can be used for reviewing the alphabet or it is a great way for students to get out of their seats and move around while learning. The demonstration is a video on the computer along with review assessments and flash cards. (Feel free to use this exercise as a break for bathrooms- send table to restroom, others workout to the video.) Objective: SWBAT- Identify and practice alphabet recognition and letter formation skills (upper & lower case) Using physical & visual movements, this practice can help children form the letters along with making body and brain connections. (Teacher will end with positive feedback towards students) Okay friends, this will be a video that we do every morning to get a routine of our capital letters. Now I need everyone to switch their thinking caps to math and get in your groups. Evaluation: * For my evaluation Blooms Taxonomy showed me to be Teacher vs. Student evaluation. Its difficult to provide question- answer on paper for kindergarten. * 1. Testing a students understanding: Explain why a capitol letter is different than a lower case? 2. Apply information: How do you write a capital E? 3. Compare/ Contrast: How is a capitol F, different from a lower-case f? 4. Write 4 different capital letters. 5. Write 4 different lower case letters. Concept Map: Tree map, classifying upper and lowercase letters. Answers already filled in. Answers vary, all letters are acceptable. Make sure, upper, and lower is what is classified. Resources: I got this idea from my kindergarten class at Doris French Elementary School. Miss. Grinder puts this video on every morning to help improve the students alphabet. I asked for the link and came up with the rest.
