Detailed Discussion on Some features

1. Read Material Properties and Slab Load from E-tabs

Material Properties

Material properties for all members will be read from E-tabs input files. The default
suggested properties will reflect these properties.

The name of the Material Property will be interpreted to understand the applied property.
Only concrete grade can be set by naming the property as M30, M40, etc. In case both
steel and concrete grades are to be set the same can be done by naming the property
as M30Fe400, M50Fe550, etc.

Material properties will have to be set for all members for RCDC to read it. In case they
have not been set and defined as per convention above RCDC will ignore it.

Two possible scenarios have been considered:

a. All members i.e all columns at a given level, or beams at given level have the
same property.
In this case the displayed property will as defined in E-tabs

b. Different columns at a given level or beams at a given level have different

properties.
In this case user will have the option of either using property from the analysis file
or overwriting in RCDC and defining different properties for design.

Slab Loads and Thickness

Slab thickness will be the thickness of the slab as set in E-tabs

Slab loading for shell elements will be read from E-tabs file. Loads applied as dead
loads and live loads only will be read as below:

2. Crack Width checks

Crack width checks have been added to all elements. These checks can be performed
as per IS 456 or IRS codes.

A report listing the maximum crack width and the max bar stress is generated. Detailed
calculations of the same are presented in the detailed calculations report.

3. Initial / Early Thermal Cracking Check

Initial / Early thermal cracking check has been added to Slabs, Footings and PileCaps.

4. Footing Sizing Check for all load combinations

A report listing the sizing checks for all load combinations titled Pressure Check has
been included for footings.

5. Setting Member Name Pre-fixes

The prefix of the member names can be set from the Rename option using a quick tool.

This feature is available in all modules.

6. PileCaps

Design-Detailing-Drawing-Documentation of regular Pile caps for up to 6 piles ie being

introduced in RCDC V4.

The flow of the module is:

a. Define Pile capacities
RCDC V4
b. Configure Piles

c. Design Pile cap

d. Generate detailed drawing

RCDC V4
e. Pile Layout Drawing

f. Pile cap layout

And generate text reports and Bill of Quantities
