Article Review

The article What makes effective teachers effective? focuses on the factors that make
teachers effective. There are three points that the article talks about; Instructional Planning,
Instructional Delivery and Assessment of/for learning. First, the article talks about how to
become effective by improving in planning, delivery and assessment. The article gave us
excellent suggestions on how to improve in instructional planning by referring some the
research. Interestingly, the article shows a table of an impact of teacher practices on student
achievement; surprisingly the most effective teachers practice is providing formative evaluation
and the least is student control over learning. Then, the article comes up with some of research
results which encourage improvement of instructional delivery. The article encourages
improvements on assessment of/for learning. It talks about good facts that teachers should know
to improve their assessments. And it comes up with some research which contains really good
ideas for improvement. In conclusion, the article ends by saying theyre not really sure that well
be an effective even if we follow this suggestions and ideas as there are still many unanswered
questions.

This article really inspires me a lot to work on more improvement of planning, delivery,
and assessments. I hope this information will be useful in my real life career. However, I have to
consider which are good to take it for my real teaching because every good suggestion are not
really useful in real life and sometimes they just dont fit in with real life for any reason. Since
the article ends up with some questions, it encourages me to find out in my life and enjoy the
teaching.
