Comments from BSC Supervisor

Observation 1 - Ashley taught The Walk to Intervention lesson today. Students were split between the
classes. She welcomed each student and called them by their first name. She reviewed words, blends,
sounds (short vowels). Some students were distracted during the lesson. Ashely did not have a lesson
plan written for this lesson. Next, she had them complete a worksheet with the same concepts she
reviewed earlier. She encouraged the students in a positive manner.
Observation 2 - Ashely reviewed sound, blend and words. Next, she read the weekly story to the
students. She stopped and asked questions as she read the story. Next, she reviewed the 1st grade
concepts with the 1st grade students on the Smart Board. The concepts included inferences, months, days,
and holidays. Third, she had the students work in their reading notebook and their writing notebook. I
found her lesson plans in her binder.
Observation 3 - Ashley taught the 1st grade students this morning. The students completed a handwriting

page. Next, she had the students read a short story. The students had to find compound words in the
story. She worked individually with students as needed. She also worked with each group too and
reviewed compound words. Next, she reviewed prepositions in grammar and vocabulary words. Her
attitude was wonderful!

Reflection from Candidate

Observation 1 - I am still adjusting to the concept of Walk to Intervention. I was also nervous.
Observation 2 - It went pretty good. I need work on time management. I also forget the blend part. I
really liked the story.
Observation 3 - It was good today. I am worried about their spelling test this week. I am going to miss
this group.
