The Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank, recently rebranded as Trade
and Development Bank, is a specialized African multilateral financial institution serving most of
the Eastern and Southern Africa. The Banks objective is to provide short, medium and long

SPECIALIST, DEAL STRUCTURING & FINANCIAL MODELING

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Deal Structuring and Financial Modeling, the Specialist, Deal
Structuring & Financial Modeling ensures the implementation of a robust credit risk analysis
process by supporting business development teams (Project & Infrastructure Finance and Trade
Finance) in deal structure design and implementation. The position holder will be responsible for
improving the effectiveness and productivity of the frontline teams through effective deal
structuring process and pricing of facilities.

The job also entails providing input and technical assistance in the design and analysis of
strategic options and implementation of market compliant facility structures; recommending
financial and non-financial covenants and security packages; validating and challenging
financial models to test robustness of cash flows; providing input on deal pricing, so that the
final pricing proposed is commensurate with the risk facing TDB; supporting the frontline teams
in the negotiation, documentation and structuring of final terms and conditions with prospective
borrowers; and working closely with the Credit Risk Department in evaluating credit papers
submitted by the frontline teams with the view of getting speedy approvals.

Job Specifications:
A Masters Degree or equivalent in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics,
Engineering, Mathematics or Sciences;
A relevant professional certification or license from internationally accredited bodies
would be an advantage;
A minimum of 5 to 8 years of working experience as an investment banker/deal
originator/credit executive in a busy global corporate banking or DFI environment, with
exposure to Eastern and Southern Africa;
Thorough knowledge of corporate and sovereign credit analysis and approval processes
with experience in project and infrastructure and/or structured trade and commodity
financing;
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills including financial modeling and the
ability to analyze financial statements with experience in using financial modeling tools;
Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally to achieve measurable results;
Must be detail oriented but flexible to work in a fast paced environment; and
A team player with good communication skills.
