Factual:
1. Define tourism, state its components?-Navita
Ans- Tourism is the activity of people traveling to
and staying in places outside their usual
environment for leisure, business or other purposes
for not more than one consecutive year.

can reach the area where attractions are
located

4. How to improve tourism in Bahamas?
Ans-:
Create a Personal Connection- The city of Aspen, CO created an Adopt A
Tourist program to help connect visitors with Aspen residents. Through this program
both parties receive discounts on activities in the community and hopefully bond so
that the next time the tourists are planning a vacation they choose to return to Aspen,
not just for the city but also to visit a friend!
Festival Tourism- This type of tourism centers around a festival or event that
is usually either place based or based on a local tradition. Events like music festivals,
art fairs, food festivals and more can draw huge crowds that spend lots of money at
various local establishments. However, they can also take a toll on local resources
so it is important to closely chart the expenditures by the town and tourists to make
sure it is a good financial move for the community.
Beautify your City- Beautification can help draw tourists to your community
and make your community into a memorable destination. To learn more about how
this type of tourism works read this step by step guide Beautification Initiatives
Enhance Tourism.
Sports Tourism- Sports tourism doesnt just come from the major pro sports
like basketball, hockey, football, baseball, and soccer. It can come from cities that
choose to host major high school sporting tournaments, preseason training camps,
college sports teams, and sporting events for some of the less well known sports that
still have a big fan following. Sports tourism is a growing sector and can be a great
investment but there is a lot at play and a lot to consider before jumping in head first.

Debateable:
1. Does tourism benefit hosting economies?
Trayi:
Yes tourism has Economic benefits - Tourism can provide direct jobs to the
community, such as tour guides or hotel housekeeping. Indirect employment is
generated through other industries such as agriculture, food production, and retail. ... It
also adds more value to the local tourism business.
Amy:
Yes because when we visit the tourist area, tourists buy things and visit
restaurants and spend more money in general.
Navita:
Yes
2. Does tourism bring out traditions that may serve to improve a city or area?
Trayi:
Yes. When a person travels and inquires about a different country they find out
more about their culture and inherit some of it. People follow it and it becomes more
important as people know about it

2. Food-Trayi
a. Bahamian Cuisine refers to the foods and beverages of the
Bahamas. It includes seafood such as fish, shellfish, lobster, crab, and
conch, as well as tropical fruits, rice, peas, pigeon peas, potatoes, and
pork.
b.
3. History/Currency/Population- Navita
The population of bahamas is 397, 267. The male population is 194, 289 (48.9%) and the
female population is 202, 978 (51.1%).
History-: Even the most experienced explorers have gotten lost in our abundant natural
beauty. For centuries, our islands captivated settlers, traders and invaders, while our
shipping channel enchanted pirates who quickly discovered all of our great hiding
places. To this day, there are still tales of treasure. However, the real treasure is our
people. Bahamians may live for today, but we never forget our past. The capital of
Bahamas is Nassau.
4. Hotels/Lodging- Amy
a. Hotels
i. Windchat Villas- 8 guests: 850-1429 dollars each
night
ii. Ananda Estate- 8 guests: 4,200- 5000 dollars each
night
iii.
5. Clothing- Trayi
a. Uniforms
b. Police and court staff wear uniforms and robes influenced by the
British colonial period. On-duty members of the Royal Bahamas Police Force can
usually be recognized by their white jackets and white pith helmets. Doctors wear the
usual whites and nurses, dental assistants and veterinary staff all wear scrubs just as
their mainland counterparts do.
c. Business Attire
d. Business is conducted in the Bahamas much as it is in any
westernized location. The islands have hotels with business centers and conference
rooms, and corporate entities maintain offices. For business meetings, funerals and
church services, expect clothing as you would see in Europe and the mainland U.S.
-- suits for the gentlemen and formal attire for the ladies. Light-weight variations on
the theme can be suitable, but a "Miami Vice" take -- with open-necked shirts and
daytime cocktail dresses -- would not be acceptable for first or formal meetings.
e. Casual Attire
f. The Bahamas attract affluent and successful people, who either
make their homes on the islands or visit to enjoy a respite from the often strict
confines imposed upon them elsewhere by their rank or position. While locals wear
flip-flops, cut-off jeans shorts and T-shirts with all manner of logos, visitors at the
swankier hotels or out to dine in casual restaurants more typically don brand-name
tennis shoes, polo shirts and cargo pants. Even at the most costly and aloof
restaurants, management expects casual wear if the subject of dress code does not
come up in the process of booking a table. Tourism largely drives the island's'
economy, and hospitality staff are always happy to offer guidance on cultural
expectations.
g. Beach Wear
h. Once again, fashions subscribe to western mores. At time of
publication, a tiny Speedo-type swimming brief on a man might become the focus of
some hilarity, while California-style surf baggies are de rigueur. Ladies wear what
they can get away with, in terms of both physical attributes and personal thresholds.
Tiny Brazilian-style bikinis are the norm on all the islands' beaches, but more demure
two-pieces and one-pieces are also commonplace. Most establishments -- hotels,
bars and eateries -- expect that some kind of cover-up, such as a sarong, be worn
when entering the premises. But many beach-side bars banish such restrictions.
i. Colors
j. The Bahamian culture is colorful and beach-oriented. Except for
formal occasions, people wear bright and usually clashing combinations of hues and
textures. Wonderfully extreme Hawaiian shirts are worn over reserved, calf-length
gabardine pants; staid plaid button-down shirts make a statement twinned with
vibrant fruit-colored nylon shorts; and fabulous, strident accessories -- barrettes with
huge tropical flowers, headscarves with tangerine and emerald accents -- earn
compliments from native islanders.
