Directions: Utilize this worksheet to help evaluate yourself and your project. Be as complete and
descriptive as possible. This self-evaluation should give the scoring team a clear picture of what you
accomplished in your project.

Name - Riley Clifford Project Start Date January 27, 2017

Title of Project - Rules of Engagement Involving American Soldiers Project Completion Date
3/26/17

1. In 40 words or more describe who your project benefited and how. In other words, what was the
impact of your project?

The impact of my project was to bring awareness to the ethical dilemma brought upon by the
Rules of Engagement involving American soldiers to people that live in a city full of members of
the US military and home of several SEAL teams. Because the topic of my paper and the help I
received from local SEAL members throughout the year, I decided to fundraise for the Navy Seal
Foundation.

2. In at least 40 words explain how the project challenged you. How was this a stretch for you?

It was my first time putting on a fundraising event all by myself. The project challenged me
because I had no one else to help so I came to realize that if I wanted something to get done it
was my responsibility and it was up to me on how much effort I wanted to put into the
project/how successful I wanted it to be.

3. List and then describe 5-8 fundamental ideas/concepts/skills of your project, which you
learned/enhanced during your project.
Organization- being on top of all aspects of the project to ensure success
Coordinating events with different parties- bringing together different people for one goal
Responsibility- not relying on other individuals to get the work done
Leadership- putting on the event alone and bringing different parts together and taking the lead
Communication- Being able to have social connections with others in order to receive help to
create a successful project.
4. List and describe 4-8 problems/obstacles/issues you encountered in your project, and briefly
describe how you solved each.
Picking a venue I had to research which local paintball venues would give me the best
deal.
Finding sponsorships- I contacted a family friend who works for a big local company that
is involved with the US Navy and asked for a sponsorship
Finding a guest speaker- One of the friends stepdads was a former Navy SEAL so I asked
him about possibly guest speaking at my event and he followed through. His speech was
well said and effective.
Recruiting participants- I made fliers and distributed them as well as recruiting any close
friends/family friends.

5. List materials used.

Paintball venue
Paintballs/paintball guns
Tape to indicate teams
Food/Water

6. List all people who helped you on the project and briefly describe the help given.
ADS Inc. - $500 dollar sponsorship
Fox Brothers Paintball Hosted my event and gave a $100 donation
Jose Guetierez- Former SEAL and guest speaker
Mother- Took Photos
Chin Moss helped me set up before event
All the participants that showed up

7. How does your completed project compare to the picture you had in mind when you started the
project? Explain the reason behind any changes from your proposal.

My project thankfully went just about how I planned it. Everything ended up well, my venue cooperated,
I got around the number of participants I expected, and raised $250 over what I was expecting to raise for
the Navy Seal Foundation.
8. If given the opportunity, explain what you would have done differently now that you speak from
experience?
-If possible, I would have recruited more adults to play paintball at the event to have more people
at the event and to have older participants who wouldnt have a problem donating more money.

9. Beyond the project itself, what did you learn about yourself?

Beyond the project, I think I learned that I have to be mature and reasonable about figuring out a
timeline of what needs to get done and what I personally have to hold myself accountable for
throughout the process in order to be successful.

10. What grade would you give yourself on the project? Justify the evaluation of your grade in at
least 25 words.

Grade: 97

Justification: Everything went smoothly with my project and I raised over what I expected for the
Navy Seal Foundation. Also, I had a strong paper/project connection and with my guest speaker
and my simulation, I believe my message was received by the participants. Overall, I am happy
about the way my project turned out and feel that it was a fun and successful project for everyone
involved.
