Gesher is the Hebrew word for bridge. It is our vision to create bridges that bring all communities together.

At the request of our members, Gesher Disability Resources is pleased to bring back support and education
in a small group setting. The second Monday of the month, we get together to talk about your experiences,
hear from local professionals on the topics that interest you, share a positive story, and be together. Mark
your calendar and please join us for the next

Agenda:
Please join us as we welcome three wonderful speakers to our May presentation. We could not be more excited
to present information on the topics of Jewish genetics and research implications related to ASD.

We welcome:
Wendy Carriere, Executive Director, Jewish Genetic Diseases Center of Greater Phoenix. Wendy will talk about the prevalence of
being a carrier of a Jewish genetic disease and their annual testing day(s).

We welcome:
Christopher J. Smith, Ph.D. and Jessica Laflin from the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC).

Dr. Smith is the VP and Research Director at SARRC. Dr. Smith will discuss diagnostics related to the autism spectrum disorder as
well as research implications related to ASD and research conducted by SARRC.

Jessica, a research recruiter from SARRC, will be discussing several research studies presently underway at the center. These
studies involve all age groups starting at three years old and range from a digestive enzyme replacement study, to a study fo-
cused on sociability, and a DNA study involving both the parents and the child. Jessica will discuss the benefits to the community
and to individual participants and their families by participating in the research studies.

joy the presentation. In order to have enough staff and supplies, please RSVP by Thursday, May 4, to Jill
