OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the lesson students will be able to:

Identify Synonyms
Distinguish between Synonyms and Antonyms
Think about more examples of Synonyms

CONTENT:
Write on the board the definition of a Synonyms and explain. Begin the lesson by singing the
Synonym song. Display a Synonym chart and students will identify. Put students in 3 groups and
give each group a Synonym Roll game. Give the instructions to the game first group that finishes
gets a prize. Collect the game pieces and distribute the next game called Synonym Dominoes.
Give instructions to the game, first group that wins will receive a prize collect game pieces. Pair
students and give them Synonyms by the sea worksheet read and explain instructions for
worksheet. Demonstrate instructions by completing the first question and closely monitor the
students that needs extra support. Go over the answers with the students and turn in the
worksheets. Allow the students to work individually for the second worksheet and distribute
worksheets read and explain the instructions for the worksheet. Demonstrate instructions by
completing the first question allow the students to work quietly and independently monitor the
students as they work and pay close attention to the students that need extra support. Go over the
worksheet and allow the students to turn in the worksheets for marking.
