When? Activity Who is involved? What will it contain?
Daily Communication Parent, teacher, This will be used to share information about a books student child on a daily basis (academic/behavioural). (For those who need/request one) Daily Speaking with Parent, teacher Teachers will be available for 5-10 mins before parents and after class to speak with parents who have a message/brief concern about their child or the day. Weekly Newsletter Parent The newsletter will inform parents about issues in the school, upcoming events and notes from the community. Weekly Parent volunteers Parent, teacher, Parents will assist students with reading/maths students groups, sight words, home readers. Must have WWCC. This will include training (at a later date) for the specific area the parent wishes to volunteer in (strengths based approach). Monthly P & C meeting Parents/community Discussion about school policies, activities, resources and current issues. Every Term Volunteer Note Parent, teacher Parents will select a time slot and what they would like to volunteer with. A time will be arranged to train parents. Ongoing Parents visits/ Parent, students, Parents are welcome to view how their child expertise teacher learns. They may also arrange to teach a lesson in their area of expertise. Ongoing Phone call with Parent, teacher The teacher will call parents if there is an issue, parents or if students needs to be commended. Ongoing IEP/PLP meetings Parent, teacher, These regular meetings are to discuss student student goals (achieved, need changing, add more) and issues that any party has with the plan. Ongoing Facebook page Parent, school The school posts information, reminders and achievements of students. It is in addition to newsletters. Term 1 Questionnaire Parent, teacher Teacher send home generic questions which Week 2 (interests, hobbies) will assist with building relationships and learning. Term 1 Meet and Greet Parent, teacher Parents/carers meet with the teacher to discuss Week 3 expectations, routines and programs. Note sent home for those who cant attend. Term 1 Interview Parent/teacher Discuss the progress of the student in all areas Week 8/9 of development and any concerns. Term 1 Grandparents Day Grandparents, Grandparents are invited to the school. Week 9 students, teacher Students share learning and experiences. Term 2 Yarning Circle Indigenous families, Indigenous families and students attend the students Yarning circle and also have a morning tea. Term 2 Formal written Parent, teacher Teachers prepare a written report for each Week 9 report (with an student communicating their progress and interview on achievements. request) Term 3 Interview Parent/teacher (see Term 1 interviews) Week 8/9 Term 4 Christmas fete and Parent, teacher, Families and community are invited to celebrate Week 7/8 concert student, community the end of year and achievements of students. Term 4 Formal written Parent/teacher (see Term 2 formal written report) Week 9 report (with an interview on request) Term 4 Work samples Parent, student Students work samples are filed and sent home Week 9 to parents. Yearly -Award ceremonies Parents, teachers, Celebration of effort and achievements of -Eisteddfod students, community students, teachers and the school. -School musical Parents and community may want to volunteer -Science Week for certain events (sport). -Education Week -Sport carnivals
