These courses also help evaluate the teachers'
relationship with and understanding of content
because there were multiple times in each course
where we needed to explain or teach our
classmates about content we had learned. This
made it quite clear if we understood the
information or if we were merely reciting what we
had found in research. Even though this was not
something we practiced a lot on young students, it
was a way to show that it is very important to be
familiar with information and truly understand it
yourself before you teach it to someone else.
