Latitude

he angular distance of a place north or south of the earth's equator, or of a celestial object north
or south of the celestial equator, usually expressed in degrees and minutes

In geography, latitude is a geographic coordinate that specifies the northsouth position of a

point on the Earth's surface. Latitude is an angle (defined below) which ranges from 0 at the
Equator to 90 (North or South) at the poles.

Longitude

angular distance east or west on the earth's surface, measured by the angle contained
between the meridian of a particular place and some prime meridian, as that of Greenwich,
England, and expressed either in degrees or by some corresponding difference in time.
Astronomy. celestial longitude.

he angular distance of a place east or west of the meridian at Greenwich, England, or west of
the standard meridian of a celestial object, usually expressed in degrees and minutes

In geography, longitude refers to the imaginary

lines that bisect the globe through the North and
South Poles (the ones that run vertically, as
opposed to the lines of latitude that run
horizontally, parallel to the equator).

Equeator

An equator is a circle that divides the surface of

an object into two equal halves. If you're freezing
up there in Iceland, get yourself on down closer
to the earth's equator, where it's nice and warm.

Prime meridian

The prime meridian is the planets line of zero

degrees longitude. Slicing the earth along the
circle of the prime meridian would divide it into
the Eastern and Western hemispheres but its
probably better to leave it in tact.

Small circle
a circle formed on the surface of a sphere by the intersection of a plane that does not pass
through the center of the sphere; specifically : such a circle on the surface of the earth

great circle

A great circle is defined as any circle drawn on a globe (or another sphere) with a
center that includes the center of the globe. Thus, a great circle divides
the globe into two equal halves. Since they must follow the circumference of the
Earth to divide it, great circles are about 40,000 kilometers (24,854 miles) in
length along meridians. At the equator, though, a great circle is a little bit longer
as the Earth is not a perfect sphere.
