Q13: Please comment on the teacher candidate's overall performance in the area of professional knowledge.
Ms. Jennings was not comfortable while teaching and when students answered a question, if it wasn't the exact answer
she was looking for, she was not able to process that they were also correct/how to get them to understand the concept.
Her last 2 weeks she started reading articles to help her understand the emotional level of 4th graders and I think if she
does this with her next placement in the beginning it will help her tremendously.

PAGE 3: Standard Two: Instructional Planning

Q14: Using the following scale, please rate the teacher candidate's performance in each of the areas below.
Aligns lesson objectives to the schools curriculum and Developing
student learning needs.

Develops appropriate plans designed to meet all learner Developing

needs; adapts plans as needed.

Plans time realistically for pacing, content mastery, and Developing

transitions.

Plans for differentiated instruction. Developing

Q15: Please comment on the teacher candidate's overall effectiveness of instructional planning.
Because of Ms. Jennings comfort level and classroom management she was not able to take over all classroom
activities. For one week she taught whole group lessons but because of her comfort level and timing in placement it was
lessons I created and typed. I think in her next placement if she goes in more confident-she will be able to get to this
point and have great success creating and coming up with her own plans.

PAGE 4: Standard Three: Instructional Delivery

Q16: Using the following scale, please rate the teacher candidate's performance in each of the areas below.
Engages and maintains students in active learning. Developing

Differentiates instruction to meet the students needs. Developing

Reinforces learning goals consistently throughout lessons. Developing

Uses a variety of effective instructional strategies and Developing

resources.

Uses instructional technology to enhance student learning. Developing

Q17: Please comment on the teacher candidate's overall effectiveness of instructional delivery.
Ms. Jennings implemented the plans she created for small group and what I planned for whole group for a week.
Because she wasn't as comfortable, she seemed confused during lessons. Her tone and excitement during the lesson
was not engaging so during lessons she did not have as much student engagement as she could have had.

Q18: Using the following scale, please rate the teacher candidate's performance in each of the areas below.
Uses student learning data to make instructional decisions. Unsatisfactory

Uses a variety of appropriate assessment strategies and Developing

instruments

Uses assessment tools for both formative and summative Developing

purposes.

Gives constructive and frequent student feedback. Proficient

Q19: Please comment on the teacher candidate's performance in the area of assessment of and for student
learning.
During small group time she provided feedback to the students after they read for their running record. She felt
comfortable doing this and each week her feedback got stronger. She tried to have an exit ticket after lessons but there
were times she didn't get to it because of pacing of lesson. A goal for Ms. Jennings would be to use whatever data she
gets from the lesson to drive her instruction for the following day. I did not see that she looked at any data she collected
to guide her instruction or make changes.

PAGE 6: Standard Five: Learning Environment

Q20: Using the following scale, please rate the teacher candidate's performance in each of the areas below.
Establishes clear expectations for classroom rules and Unsatisfactory
procedures; enforces them consistently and fairly.

Uses available resources and knowledge of students to Unsatisfactory

prevent, redirect, or reinforce behaviors.

Respects students diversity, including language, culture, Developing

race, gender, and special needs.

Actively listens and pays attention to students needs and Developing

responses.

Q21: Please comment on the teacher candidate's overall effectiveness in creating an environment conducive
to learning.
This is the area that Ms. Jennings needs the most growth. I think when she grows in this area she will see her comfort
level go up, her lessons will have better pacing, and she will have an overall better student teaching experience.

PAGE 7: Standard Six: Professionalism

Modifies performance based on personal and professional Developing
critiques.

Demonstrates initiative in planning, management, and Proficient

professional interactions.

Demonstrates effective communication and collaboration Proficient

with teachers and other school personnel.

Fosters trust in all school relationships through fair and Proficient

ethical interactions.

Q23: Please comment on the teacher candidate's professionalism throughout the period of observation.
Ms. Jennings and I had a good relationship. She felt comfortable asking questions and listened to my feedback. A lot of
the time we would come up with a plan for her for classroom management and she would not implement that in the
moment with the students. She would become overwhelmed and revert right back to negative feedback and comments
instead of the strategies we came up with to try.

PAGE 8: Standard Seven: Student Academic Progress

Q24: Using the following scale, please rate the teacher candidate's performance in each of the areas below.
Documents the progress of each student throughout the Developing
placement.

Provides evidence that achievement goals have been met. Developing

Uses available data to document/communicate student Developing

progress and develop learning targets.

Q25: Please comment on the students academic progress throughout the period of observation.
She attempted taking data from each lesson but she did not use this to drive her instruction for the following day.
