The film Star Wars brought international fame to the composer John
Williams, on of the most gifted composers for film and television. He
worked in a rather unique and different compositional style in that
he did not write short cue music for individual scenes, but rather
wrote large expansive compositions to accompany large segmsents
of his films. Although set in futuristic terms, the Star Wars films
share the common theme of a primary struggle between good and
evil, and the eventual success of love conquering all. Williams
music is especially effective in expressing a wide range of feelings
and creating atmosphere, suspense and excitement for these films.

Williams has composed music and served as Music Director for such
well-known films as Jaws, E.T., Superman, the Indiana Jones series,
Jurassic Park, Schindlers List and the recent Harry Potter films. He
has received 50 Academy Award nominations and has been awarded
5 Oscars, 7 British Academy Film Awards, and 22 Grammies as well
as several gold and platinum records. In addition to his film music,
he has also composed the Olympic themes from the 1984, 1988 and
1996 Summer Olympic Games. From 1980 to 1992, Williams served
as conductor the Boston Pops Orchestra.

The Chung Chi College Wind Orchestra will be performing the first
and second movement.
