Jigsaw Way Jigsaw Junction High School has undoubtedly dedicated its teachers, administrators, and professional staff toward providing A+ quality support to its respected students. Each student brings their own unique qualities, interests, strengths, and even weaknesses. As a committed team of professionals looking to provide the highest level of support for our students, we have created three activities designed to improve our students in each of the following domains: academic, personal/social, and career. Each of the three activities that tie into these domains are as follows:
Academic Responsibility, Growth, and Analysis
A:A1.3 Take pride in work and achievement A:A3.1 Take Responsibility for their actions A:B2.3 Develop and implement annual plan of study to maximize academic ability and achievement Activity: Students will actively be involved in standardized and general test review, interpretation, and analysis with their teachers and counselors. A meeting will be conducted quarterly with each student to go over achievements, struggles, and what support/ actions can be implemented to make them continue to succeed in future goals.
Interest Inventory Design
PS:A1.1 Develop positive attitudes toward self as a unique and worthy person PS:A2.3 Recognize, accept, respect, and appreciate individual differences C:B1.2 Identify personal skills, interests and abilities and relate them to current career choice Activity: Each student will participate in an interest inventory session each school year. The interest inventory changes as the students progress from grade to grade to better suit the needs of that particular age group. The overarching principle in each of these inventory sessions is to promote the strengths and positive qualities each student has, while embracing and recognizing others strengths, as well. This will also give them insight to career options, and the mindset to improve their strengths further.
College Selection Committee- An Evaluation and Analysis of the Future
C:A1.2 Learn about the variety of traditional and nontraditional occupations C:A1.5 Learn how to make decisions C:B2.1 Demonstrate awareness of the education and training need to achieve career goals Activity: Counselors will meet with students in the first few months of the school year to go over and evaluate their potential college choices. This meeting is designed to make sure that students are choosing colleges that fit their individual needs and occupations. Students will learn what they have to do to be successful once they arrive at their college, and how to make decisions once they arrive there on their own.
