 Railway activities in Tunisia started in August 2nd 1872. Mohamed Sadok Bey
inaugurated the rst railway line that relates Tunis to La goulette and Marsa.
Nowadays there are 2000 kilometers of railways that relate many parts of the
country.

They are used to transport people, merchandise

such as phosphates from Gafsa to Sfax.

Many people use the train from

many places in the country to
the capital.
