Health chapter 27 First Aid and Emergencies Unit Plan

Day 1

Providing First Aid

The students will read the section in the book and write down what they believe is
most important. Then the teacher will call upon students and have them share what
they believe are the most important elements of the section. After that the teacher
will lecture and show pictures of different wounds.

Day 2

Providing first aid for bleeding

The students will review the different types of wounds. Then the students will learn
how to control bleeding. Along with practicing the steps

Day 3

First Aid for Burns

The students will be learning about the different types of burns and how each of
them should be treated. The students will be split up into 3 groups, each group will
have a type of burn and that group will have to research different information about
it and present their findings to the class.

Day 4

CPR for adults

The students will learn the chain of survival and how to properly give CPR to an
adult. After the teacher shows the students they will practice CPR on dumbs. AS
they are practicing the teacher will walk around and make sure everyone is doing it
correctly and correcting anyone who isnt.

Day 5

CRP for Infants and Children

The students will learn the chain of survival and how to properly give CPR to an
infants and children. After the teacher shows the students they will practice CPR on
dumbs. AS they are practicing the teacher will walk around and make sure everyone
is doing it correctly and correcting anyone who isnt.

Day 6

First Aid for Choking


The teacher will show the students the correct way to help a chocking victim. Once
the teacher has explained it to the students and showed them what to do they will
practice it on dumbs. The teacher will be walking around making sure everyone is
doing it correctly.

Day 7

Responding to Other Common Emergencies

There will be a piece of paper on decks around the room with a topic on it. The
students will rotate from one topic to the other. At each topic they will read the
paragraph and write 3 to 5 things they read that they thought were important. After
everyone has finished that we will talk about it as a class.

Day 8

Emergency Preparedness

The students will be split up into groups. Each group will be given a different type of
storm. The groups will read in the book along with looking up information online and
make a poster with the information they found on it. Everyone most contribute.

Day 9

Emergency Preparedness

They students will be presenting the posters they made in the last class. Everyone
in the group must talk.

Day 10

Test

The students will come in have a few minutes to ask the teacger any questions they
may have. Then the students will take the test.
