Introduction:
Ones diet is an essential part of your daily routine. Therefore, maintaining a healthy diet
is very important to maintain a healthy life. The food we consume, whether good or bad can
drastically change our energy levels. The goal of this research project was to answer the
question: How does diet affect your academics?. We wanted to find the relationship between
amount of meals consumed in a day in correlation to GPA. In addition, We also wanted to find
out what type of foods people consumed, and if that affected GPA as well. The online survey
conducted through google sheets also categorized the responses based on class so we can further
Survey Questions:
On a scale from 1-10, how much energy do you have per day?

Results:
The number of respondents from the survey amounted to 125, with 66 freshman, 27
sophomores, 24 juniors, and 8 seniors. Of all these respondents, the average GPA was 3.20. We
also discovered that the respondents usually ate 2-3 meals per day. The food group most
consumed by the respondents was by far carbohydrates, while the least consumed was fruits and
vegetables.
According to the results obtained from the survey, those who ate three meals a day had an
above average GPA, given that the average GPA was 3.20. Additionally, those who only ate 2

Now, since over half of our respondents said they consumed carbohydrates the most, we
could not find a specific connection between what type of foods you eat with your GPA. We
believe this is because every person is unique and needs different combinations of the food
When comparing energy levels to GPA, people with an above average GPA said that
every day their energy levels are around 6-8 out of 10. This makes sense to us because if you are
exhausted and tired all the time, you will not have enough energy to properly focus in class or
study at home. On the other hand, if you have too much energy, it is very possible that you will

Conclusion:
Maintaining a healthy diet is essential for maintaining a healthy life. After surveying 125
ASU students, we discovered that how many meals you eat per day can directly affect your GPA.
Those who eat 3 meals a day are more likely to have an above average GPA while those who eat
less are more likely to have a below average GPA. Also, people who had an energy level of 6-8
out of 10, were more likely to have an above average GPA. However, we were unable to
determine if the types of food you eat directly affects your GPA. This is due to the fact that every
person has different regime that contributes to the bodys necessities. As a result, this may have
been an outlier that contributed to the outcome of our results. However, some of the questions in
the survey were questioned so that we can get a general understanding of how students eat and if
or not they make healthy choices. All in all, eating 3 healthy and balanced meals per day can lead
you to a higher GPA, which can also satisfy substantially decent amount of energy!
