As her cooperating teacher, | had the pleasure of supervising Dena for seven weeks, and | have been able to observe her extraordinary skills as a teacher during that time. Dena spent her seven weeks teaching in a second grade classroom. The class Consisted of 22 students. Three of the students were English Language Learners. Brookview is one of eight elementary schools in the Wdukee Community School District. The school serves kindergarten through fifth grade with approximately 630 students. Brookview was named a Leader In Me Lighthouse School by Franklin Covey in 2014- 2015. When working with students, Dena is consistently focused on how to maximize student learning which has allowed her to excel in the areas of lesson planning, meeting objectives, assessment, and classroom management. She successfully planned and implemented several units of study. One particularly engaging unit was for Social Studies and involved technology changing over time. These units showed Deno's ability to plan, teach and adjust lessons based on student needs. Utilizing the workshop ‘approach in all subject areas allowed Dena to provide effective differentiation, Beigg a reflective teacher and learner is a quality that will most help Dena in her teaching, She continually reflects on lessons and classroom management. She continually finds ways to improve her practice. Dena was able to communicdte effectively and she displayed many fine personal and professional qualities normally attributed to outstanding teachers. She carried out her responsibilities in a professional and dependable manner and consistently asked to Participate in after-school activities and teacher events. In my opinion as a classroom teacher for 14 years Dena is an excellent candidate for your school. She has tremendous initiative, a desire to continue to learn, and a reflective practitioner outlook.
