Day 11 - Tuesday 21st, March 2017

Assessment of Pupils Progress

Assessing students work
Observe and record strategies used by the teacher to assess
learning

1. How did the teacher monitor classroom activities?

The teacher divides the activities into three groups, and she puts a timer, so
she doesn't waste any time during the class.

2. What sort of designated assessment tasks are integrated within

classwork?
The teacher checks on the students, she goes over their papers, and by
checking on them, she knows the level of each student and if the activity
was good enough for them or not. For example, she gives them worksheets
to solve it in the class and then she goes over it with them.

3. How does s/he assess the activities during lesson?

When one of the students does a good thing or answer right, the teacher
praises him\her in front of the whole class. Also, she tells their parents about
what they did and when the student does not know something the teacher
contact his\her parents and tell them about his\her problem.

4. How did s/he give feedback to facilitate learning?

She gave a daily feedback to the parents by contacting them on the
WhatsApp, and by this, the parents would make a good respond to the
feedback on their child.

5. Did s/he give homework?

Yes, she gives homework but not every day. For example :once or
twice a week.

6. Which of these strategies would you use/not use? Why?

I would give some homework to assess the students and to let their parents
know their levels.

7. Was there anything that could have been done differently?

Nothing.

Reflective Statement to be completed after every
observation

The following question may guide your response: (If appropriate)

What have you noticed about learners from this observation?

-Students learn better if they love the teacher.
-Kids at the kindergarten are so smart, and they understand the lessons very well
whenever the teacher explains the lessons for them.
-They love to watch videos, so the teacher shows them a video that is related to the
lesson theyre taking, and by showing them a video they learn better and faster.

Think about your child development studies. Did you notice anything interesting that
relates to the theories we have been discussing?
Yes, According to Eriksons theory the child build a sense of trust when his parents give him
care and meet his needs when he is an infant. So when he grow up, he learns how to trust the
world around him and hell be able to continue his life and the other stages in a right way. What
I saw at the kindergarten that some of the students are smart and they have a connection with
their classmates and the teacher. That reflects on their parents when they gave the child care
and love when he was an infant.

What interested or surprised you?

Some of the students were so good at writing, and that amazed me because theyre too young
and by this age its difficult for them to know how to write in a right way.
