Selection and Schedules

Selection Process

The candidates must have a university degree in science or engineering,

including geology, geophysics, petroleum engineering, mining, physics,
mechanical and chemical engineering or in other major but they need to have
a minimum of two years practical experience in geothermal work.

Courses are given in Indonesian language; however the candidates have to

take English Proficiency Test. Minimum TOEFL-score is 475

In addition the candidates have to take Academic Potential Test or Test

Potensi Akademik (TPA). Minimum TPA-score is 500.

Registration

For those who are interested to study toward magister degree, application
form can be downloaded from http://www.sps.itb.ac.id

For those who applied for scholarship, the submission of the application end
on first week of April, otherwise on the third week of June.

Application form should be enclosed with Curriculum Vitae and letter of

recommendation.

Registration Schedule
Vision and Mission
Vision

To become an excellent Study Program in the exploration, production and utilization of

sustainable geothermal energy resource with environmental insight, for the welfare and
economic growth of the Indonesia.

Mission

To innovate, share and apply the knowledge and technology of geothermal energy resources to
develop excellent human resource in Indonesia and the world.

Demand and Career

Man Power Demand

Other target of the government is directed toward local capacity building. It is expected that the
country would become a centre of excellence for geothermal industries, and local universities
would provide geothermal education program and research facilities, to meet man power needs
for supporting geothermal exploration and development in Indonesia.

Freeston & Bolton (1993), geothermal experts from New Zealand estimated that 3050 men
power per year, consists of geothermal engineers and earth scientists, are needed for supporting
geothermal development of 1000 MW in Indonesia. While Indonesian Geothermal Association
(API, stands for Asosiasi Panas Bumi Indonesia) estimated a higher number, that is 70 men
power per year. Sjafra Dwipa from Department of Energy and Mineral Resources (ref. Letter No.
179/PB/2005) support the establisment of Master Degree Program in Geothermal Technology at
ITB and estimated that 5060 man power per year for supporting geothermal development in
Indonesia.

With an assumption that 3050 man power per year are required for supporting geothermal
development of 1000 MW in Indonesia, hence for supporting development of 4733 MW in
Indonesia until the year 2014, Indonesia will need at least 120 man power per year, consists of
geothermal engineers and earth scientists. This number has not include the number of man power
needs for conducting exploration at 163 geothermal areas which at present are still at preliminary
survey stage and for conducting further exploration at 78 areas which at present are still at
exploration stage.

Untuk mengatasi krisis penyediaan energi dan menghindari
dampak kerusakan lingkungan hidup akibat global warming maka
Panas Bumi (Geothermal Energy ).

bumi dunia, namun demikian pemanfaatannya masih kecil yaitu sebesar 1.189 MW

(Geothermal Energy)

Jenjang S-2
Program Studi Geothermal hanya dibuka pada jenjang S-2.
Kurikulum
Program Studi Energi Panas Bumi terdiri dari 2 spesialisasi.
Eksplorasi dan Rekayasa.
Keduanya terdiri dari 36 SKS
Karena Program Studi Energi Panas Bumi mengutamakan
kelestarian lingkungan, maka dibutuhkan pengajar/dosen dari teknik
lingkungan untuk menumbuhkan pengetahuan dan sikap mahasiswa
terkait lingkungan

PT Agrokompleks
