MULTI-MEDIA AUTHORING TEMPLATE

PART A: Describe how students could create and publish an original movie, audio file, podcast, or vodcast in order to achieve
required learning standards. Challenge: For an A provide an idea where the learning activity reaches a LoTi level 4a or
above. To do this you will have to design a project where students engage in higher-order thinking and publish their work to an
audience that will use or care about the results. Broad feedback for their work is also a great way to boost interest and
performance.

Brief Description of Learning Experience:


This movie will be used to introduce the sport of Basketball. This video focuses on the NBA. This video is meant to get
students excited about the sport before we start playing it. Teachers can make videos exciting and really engaging. The
video clip in the movie shows how competitive and how thrilling basketball can be. Using movies is a great introduction
technique.

Students will watch the movie, and hopefully get excited about the sport. They can ask questions after the movie is
over. I want the students to appreciate the sport. Hopefully the movie encourages more kids to want to play basketball.
Students will challenge themselves to do something new not only for health and fitness benefits but also social benefits.
Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why?
The LoTi Lvel is 1 because the teacher is showing the movie. The students are not using any technology.

Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tools critical to the project? Could the project be
completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other types of technology, if any, are
going to be used in the learning experience?

The project needs the media because it builds excitement and shows what the game is all about. The project could
happen without the video but students may not be excited to play or would want to play. A great introduction will be lost
without the movie.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Briefly discuss some possible issues surrounding internet safety and student
privacy that could arise while implementing this learning experience and explain how youd minimize risks to
students/yourself, alleviate any fears by parents/administrators, and follow school districts Internet Safety/Use Policy.

Some internet safety issues would be students sharing personal information and students accessing inappropriate
sites or ads. To prevent these issues I can give students of pre approves sited that they can access, monitor their computer
use, and give them specific rules to follow when they access the internet in my class, such as dont upload or post ant
personal information or pictures. I will send home a note to give to parent explaining our assignments and that we will be
using the internet and fill them in on the schools internet safety rules.
