Dear Superintendent,

It is with great enthusiasm that I write to submit my name for the position of
Principal at Rio Dell Elementary. I have earned a Principals certificate from
Humboldt State University and I am currently working on finishing up my
Masters Degree in Education from Humboldt State. I have a Bachelor of Arts
Degree in Art History from U.C.L. A. With seven years experience as a
Specialized Academic Instructor, with hands-on teaching experience, I am
confident that I possess the qualifications required to help your district
promote its philosophy and goals.

As the attached resume will detail, I am currently serving as a Specialized

Academic Instructor for grades five and seven. I am working closely with the
principal and faculty to realign the curriculum and modify instruction to best
prepare students for the CAASP state exams. I also work closely with the
principal and school counselor to address student behavior and have
frequent contact with both teachers and parents. As a Resource Specialist. I
have used various forms of assessment, both formal and informal to guide
goals and instruction. I stay current with IEP paperwork as well as special
education law and am sensitive to IEP timelines. I work collaboratively with
teachers to make sure students have the needed modifications and
accommodations in the classroom as well as help students make progress on
their goals.
My strengths include: collaborative leadership, strategic planning,
empowering educators to develop their leadership and instructional skills,
independent academic program development in reading and math,
coordination and leadership in community and pedagogical programs, and
identification / implementation of organizational programs. I foster strong
working relationships with local and school communities and facilitate
integration of initiatives designed to enhance the school environment. I am
organized, dedicated, enthusiastic and hard working.

As a Principal, I aspire to a school culture and educational program conducive

to student learning and development. Families are under tremendous
challenges today, and I seek to foster positive behavior, student and faculty
teamwork, and cooperation in the school environment. I initiate and lead
programs to provide clear, concise information both internally to professional
staff and externally to students and parents. My belief is that students make
choices, and most of the time there are natural consequences for these
choices. They should be held accountable in a consistent and fair manner.
