Discover the art of the street during activities. One of them is the possibility of
painting graffiti legally. Unlike the legal walls
your vacation in Malm, the graffiti area at Stenkrossen is
partly roofed, which means that the writers

written academically about street art since
2006 and published his first book, The
Street Art World, in 2014. If you have
grown tired of the hammock or crime
novel and would like to get to know the
art of the street a little better, Peter
Bengtsen guides us with 5 tips from the
resund Region. Come along.

Tip #1: The legal graffiti walls at P-huset Anna Figure 2: GIRLS crew at Stenkrossen (Lund)
and Folkets Park (Malm).
Tip #3: Street Art sterlen
Street Art sterlen is a so-called street art
festival which began in 2015. The festival has
been a driving force behind works in Ystad,
Simrishamn and Borrby, among other places.
The artworks are made both by local and
international artists. For example, in Tommarp
there is a nice mural by the Spanish artist
Escif. The festivals summer programme for
2016 can be found here.

P-huset Anna is the oldest legal graffiti

location in Sweden and attracts both local and
international graffiti writers. Apart from the
most visible wall facing Kaptensgatan, there is
another wall at the back of the parking house.
The wall at Folkets Park (Norra Parkgatan) is
more recent, but attracts many of the same
writers. Since the walls are legal, the writers
do not need to rush, and this often results in
paintings of a high quality. At the same time,
the walls are open to anyone, so beginners
also have an opportunity to paint. Figure 3: Conor Harrington mural (Vesterbro).

graffiti writers, a number of artists created

murals in Vesterbro. More information and a
list of the artworks can be found here. The
streets of Vesterbro are home to many more
artworks than those on the list, so keep your
eyes open when you are walking around.

Tip #5: Birds (Malm)

Figure 4: Birds by anonymous artist (Malm)

While there are many specific locations, like

the ones listed above, where you can be fairly
certain to find artworks, it is important to
remember that street art is everywhere. For
example, in Malm an anonymous artist is
currently painting birds all over the city. One
of the great things about going on a hunt for
these birds is that you will also come across
works by many other artists, like those
created during the festival Artscape 2014.
