Course Description

The Management and Organizational Leadership Research Seminar for the graduate Nurse
Leader/Administrator emphasizes the emerging trends in healthcare and the world health systems,
developmental and accrediting trends within a healthcare institution, and government and political
influence on the provisions of healthcare. The culmination of this course will result in a major applied
research proposal paper related to practice, concepts, and/or major issues related to todays nurse
administrator.

Course Objectives

Compare & contrast the relationship between organizational leadership and nursing
management
Illustrate a comprehensive understanding of the role of an administrator/leader within a
healthcare organization
Demonstrate your ability to conduct research that produces valid, reliable, and meaningful
results that can be used to improve the nursing profession
Analyze the impact of evidence-based practice in promoting safety and quality patient and
healthy work environments
Create a research proposal related to issues/problems in the areas of organizational leadership
and/or nursing management that you have encountered in your professional practice
