Ladies and Gentlemen:

I am applying for a position as a teacher within Albuquerque Public

Schools. I will be graduating from the University of New Mexico on May 13,

2017 and am planning to start my career with Albuquerque Public Schools. My

major is in Elementary Education with a focus on Kindergarten through eighth

grade mathematics.

I was born and raised in Albuquerque and graduated from Hope

Christian School with honors. I was on the Deans Honor Roll and a member of

the National Honor Society throughout high school. At UNM I currently have a

3.82 GPA and am on the Deans List.

While in high school I was able to spend a year of my time as a teachers

aide in a fourth grade classroom, and an additional year as an aide in a third

grade classroom. I also worked as a middle school tutor during this time. I have

been gaining more experience by student teaching since January of 2016 in

both Kindergarten and second grade. I have wanted to be a teacher since a very

early age, and over the years have come to realize the importance of early

education. I believe that the experiences a child has in elementary school will

determine the way they will feel about school as their education progresses.

Now that I am close to graduating from college, I plan to remain in

Albuquerque and obtain a full-time position as a teacher. I feel that I have

obtained the skills necessary to work successfully with students and hope to

gain further experience during my teaching journey. I am truly looking forward

to this opportunity and cannot wait to contribute to APS in every way possible.
