PART A: Describe how students could create and publish an original movie, audio file, podcast, or vodcast in order to achieve
required learning standards. Challenge: For an A provide an idea where the learning activity reaches a LoTi level 4a or
above. To do this you will have to design a project where students engage in higher-order thinking and publish their work to an
audience that will use or care about the results. Broad feedback for their work is also a great way to boost interest and
performance.
Grade Level: 5th Grade
Content Area: Physical Education
Technology Used (check all that apply): Movie Audio Podcast Vodcast Other: (list)

1. Content Area/Grade/Standards/Topics Addressed: PE5.5.b-Performs activities safely and follows

class rules of conduct.

Brief Description of Learning Experience: As you address the standards, what will students and teachers do? How will
the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? What audience will use/care about the multimedia projects
students are creating? How broad is this audience? How will student work be assessed and by whom? Who will provide
feedback to students about their work? (Overview should be a minimum of 2 paragraphs) Videos are a type of
multimedia because it incorporates the use of sounds and pictures. Videos can be a very useful
way to get students motivated in the classroom. Allowing students to use clips, pictures, and
recorded video as a way to create movies helps promote the creativeness of a student and will
help those who are visual learners. Movie Maker can be used to edit and piece together clips to
enable smooth transitions.

Videos are a great way to engage students in the classroom. It gives students the opportunity to
create their own project and put their own style on it using their own abilities and skills. This is
considered a high LoTi level because of the high student engagement and the ability to direct
their own learning through use of video. I think videos need to be used more in the classrooms
because it is an avenue towards promoting student learning and creativeness. I hope to use
videos in my classroom as a way for students to express their creative sides and to communicate
through visual references in order to connect with students who are receptive to visual learning. I
would use video to have students create a bio or short description of their interests and activities
that they do outside of school in order to get a feel for each student prior to the first day of class.

Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why? LoTi level 5
because of the creativity needed to make a video.

Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tools critical to the project? Could the project be
completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other types of technology, if any, are
going to be used in the learning experience? You could use another technology to make a video however all of the
videos we will be editing in class will be on Movie Maker.

privacy that could arise while implementing this learning experience and explain how youd minimize risks to
students/yourself, alleviate any fears by parents/administrators, and follow school districts Internet Safety/Use Policy.
Its important that teacher, parents, and students read the internet safety/use policy.
Other comments about your proposed student multimedia authoring activity: Video is a great way to keep the
