N479 Professional Activity Evaluation Form

Your Name: Claritza Sanchez Date of Activity: 4/6/2017 Faculty name: Beverly Bias

Describe the community service/professional activity/s you attended or participated

with (be specific about the purpose and your role):

o The activity I did for my professional activity is Pediatric Advance Life Support.

The activity required preparation before the actual activity, which included

studying EKGs, look over the book, treatments for arrhythmias, knowing specific

medications and their dosage, and a 50-question pre-assessment. At the day of the

activity, my role was able to identify the appropriate process in scenarios

presented. I had to assess, identify possible arrhythmias, and choose the

appropriate intervention. I was also got to do hands-on CPR. I identified if the

patient required compression or rescue breaths. At the end of the activity, I had to

take a test to determine if I understood and be able to apply the knowledge gain

during the course.

Where was this held and what was was program/activity length?

o The activity took place at Eclipse CPR Training LLC facility located at 4500 E

Speedway Blvd Suite 84. The activity took about 8 hours in total when you

combine the preparation before the class and the hands-on during class.

Discuss the value of this experience to you (be specific).

o For me, this activity was very valuable because I want to be around infant and

children. It is crucial to know the most common factor that causes cardiac arrest

among infants and children. Also, the course helps me better understand the

appropriate interventions for the arrhythmias which is essential in an emergency.

This is something that would always be in my mind whenever Im taking care of

pediatric patients.

Would you recommend this specific communnity/professional experience in the

future; why or why not? (Describe)

o I would recommend this activity to anyone but especially people that want to into

pediatrics. The instructor made the information easy to retain. It is hard to sit for

six hours to learn about advanced CPR, but the instructor made the material

entertaining that it didnt feel like I was in there for six hours.
