INTRODUCTION

During 1970 and 1980 ,there was not much of TV children used to indulge in sports and other
out door activity .this kept them fit and mentally active .but none of them knew about he out side
world

The introducing of TV has changed the overall scenario, children are more into TV than any
other outdoor activity, this given them knowledge about the world .but also it has impacted on
their body and mental fitness

Advantage

It helps them to know about the current awareness

It gives relaxation

Disadvantage

It affected mentally
It reduces the concentration on studies
The children become lazy by watching TV
QUESTIONARY

1. How many hours does your children watch TV?

a)3 hrs b) 6 hrs c)7hrs d) 8hrs

2. What are the TV channels they see?

a)Sports b)adventure c)entertainment d)geography

3. Does he reduce watching TV during exams time. How many hours?

a)1 hrs b)2hrs c)3hrs d) 4hrs

4. How many hours do they study?

a)2hrs b)3 hrs c)4 hrs d)5 hrs

5. Has watching TV impacted on the marks scored during exams?

a)Yes b) no c) cant say

6. Has watching TV impacted on the concentration of children?

a)Yes b) no c) cant say

7. Has TV influenced the interest of children in studies?

a)Yes b) no c) cant say

8. Do children gain knowledge from TV?

a)Yes b) no c) cant say

9. Has TV impacted on the overall mental maturity of children?

a)Yes b) no c) cant say

Under tabulate forum

I collected the relevant information through questioner of 40 students, who are studying 10 th
standard.

From the below table .we analyze the collected information under random sampling
method

Number of students

Yes No Cant say

Watching TV impacted on marks scored 25 10 5

Getting knowledge 30 5 5

Stop watching TV during exam hours 28 8 4

The correlation between number of hours TV watched and number of hours studied

Correlation and co efficient of correlation

Number Number x(X-X) y(Y-Y) X2 Y2 xy

4 5 1 -1 1 1 -1

3 6 0 0 0 0 0

4 7 1 1 1 1 1

2 4 -1 -2 1 4 2

5 6 2 0 4 0 0

1 8 -2 2 4 4 -4

4 3 1 -3 1 9 -3

2 7 -1 1 1 1 -1

2 6 -1 0 1 0 0

3 8 0 2 0 4 0

30 60 14 24 6

Mean(x) = X / N

= 30 / 10 =3

The mean of X is 3

Mean(Y) = Y / N

= 60 / 10 =6

The mean of Y is 6
Calculation of coefficient of correlation
R= x y / (x2*y2)

= 6 / (14*24)

= 6 / 336

= 6 / 18.33

= 0.32

Therefore the coefficient of correlation is o.72

Testing of hypothesis
Hypothesis testing begins by making an assumption about the population parameter. Then we
gather sample data and determine the sample statistics. To test the validity of our hypothesis the
difference between the hypothesized value and the actual value of the sample statistic will be
determined. If the difference between the hypothesized population parameter and the actual value
is larger then we automatically reject our hypothesis. If it is small, we accept it. There are two
types of hypothesis they are,

1. Null hypothesis

2. Alternative hypotheses

Alternative hypothesis is denoted by the symbol H1.

It is known as a two tailed alternative test

1. Right tailed test

2. Left tailed test

The alternative hypothesis may be represented as

1. H1: 0
2. H1: > 0
3. H1:< 0
Conclusion

Impact of watching TV by the 10th standard student during examination or in general days is
more. By watching TV for long time it reduces the marks scored by students and it also reduces
the concentration on studying. Children are more interested in watching TV than any other
activity, this gives the knowledge about the world, but also it has impacted on their body and
mental fitness.
