Student: Karan Hughes
Area of Concern
Gilmore Elementary
consists of several
students who require oral
administration during
classroom testing. The
area of concern is when
an instructor is
administering an oral test,
this diminishes the ability
to help or monitor other
students, especially if
there are several students
which require oral
administration. Having a
tool these students could
use which reads the
question and answer
choices to them, frees the
instructor to help others
and monitor the
remainder of the class.
Needs Assessment
As an instructor of
students who receive oral
administration for tests, it
is within my job
description to ensure that
my students receive any
necessary accommodation
which are noted in either
their 504 or Individual
Education Plans. I asked
my campus principal if I
could do this project to
help other staff who are
experiencing the same
issue. My goal was to
educate the teachers on
how to utilize an online
tool we already use,
ItsLearning, to create oral
tests for students who
require them to meet
their educational needs
per their 504s or IEPs.

This project required
me to learn more
about ItsLearning

One issue that I
experienced during
the training pertained
to the writes and
permissions of
individuals tablets and
their ability to access
the microphone.
After resolving
permission issues, the
faculty had no further
problems creating an
oral test. Several
were excited and
stated they could not
wait to create and
implement these oral
tests with their
classes.
Success was
measured by
observing the faculty
actively creating an

Gilmore Elementary is a
high performing school
located in Clear Creek ISD.
While my campus
principal attended a
learning walk at our
local high school, she
observed a teacher
utilizing Plickers to quickly
check homework, and
then assess areas of
weakness. Our school
does not possess such a
tool, so my principal made
the decision to use this
program.
Needs Assessment
As a math instructor on
my campus, having a tool
which provides quick
assessments of the entire
class would be an
incredible asset. The Plickers would first be
campus principal assigned
this project to me so fifth
grade teachers could pilot
this program before
recommending the
program to other grade
levels.

Reflection
1. Creating a school
climate and vision is
difficult. Although
most of my team was
willing to implement
Plickers, one teacher
refused to participate.
2. Implementing Plickers
for warm-ups went
well. The students
enjoyed it, and
teachers reported the
ease of use. However,
there were a few
instances in which a
member of the
implementation team
ran into an issue with
