a. Apply the definition of the integral to model problems in physics, economics, etc, obtaining results in terms
of integrals.

derivatives. Georgia Department of Education January 2, 2017

Brief Description of Learning Experience: As you address the standards, what will students and teachers do?
How will the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? What audience will use/care about the
multimedia projects students are creating? How broad is this audience? How will student work be assessed and
by whom? Who will provide feedback to students about their work? (Overview should be a minimum of 2
paragraphs)

As a summative project for the end of a semester, the students will be asked to select a topic that was covered
by the calculus semester. Then students will create a video lesson to review the topic. The video will include 25
pictures, at least one audio clip, and at least one video. It should be free of blatent technical or grammatical or
mathematical errors. The video will focus on the history of the development of the theorey and then a
conclusive summary of the topic and then a conclusion detailing how the principle has effected math.

Students will be working with Windows movie maker and they will have the benefit of using sites like creative
commons. There will be two in class lab days to work on the project and then the video submission must be
uploaded to the private class website to be graded. For final review day the class will review all of the videos
that their peers created. This project should be a culminating experience for math and technology, including
elements of history and English.

Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why? This is a Loti
level 4 or five because the students are creating real product in which they get to explore worldwide events and
culture, and then potentially share it with a broader community than the community.

Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tools critical to the project? Could the project
be completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other types of technology, if
any, are going to be used in the learning experience? The whole project is based on the marriage of the
curriculum and the presentation of the topic. In theory, the video could be replaced by a more traditional poster,
but the element of the movie is more engaging and fun for the students to review. The video also allows a way
more in depth exploration of topic, because it can fit more ideas than a cluttered poster.

Inspiration (optional): If you used existing multimedia projects as a model for your project (whether in part or
whole), include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from others.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Briefly discuss some possible issues surrounding internet safety and
student privacy that could arise while implementing this learning experience and explain how youd minimize
risks to students/yourself, alleviate any fears by parents/administrators, and follow school districts Internet
Safety/Use Policy.
There is a possible problem involving this project because students could come into contact with strangers of
the outside world. This risk can and should be controlled by adjusting the settings on the blog for parent and
student access only, and by making sure no student names or locations are used. The videos and blog should
follow all the schooldistrict internet safety policies, along with following the copyright laws.

Other comments about your proposed student multimedia authoring activity: The included video is a
good demonstration about how the students work could look. This will be a creative way to sum up a semester
of topics.
