Julie Osborne, Superintendent

Cutten School District
4182 Walnut Drive, Eureka, CA 95503

Dear Julie Osborne,

It is with great interest that I am applying for the position of Principal/Superintendent. I have earned a
Bachelor in Arts degree in Liberal Studies Elementary Education, a Masters of Teaching in Reading
Specialization, and a Principals Certificate. I am currently in HSUs Leadership Administrative Program to
get my Administrators Certificate, I will be graduating in May 2017. Additionally, I have seven years
experience in hands-on teaching. I am enthusiastic and prepared to contribute my knowledge and
experience to help your district continue to thrive.

As the attached resume will detail, I am currently a 5th grade teacher at Cutten School. I have been on
the Leadership Team for the past three years. I am working closely with administration and teachers to
realign the curriculum to the Common Core and modify instruction to best prepare students for
assessment. Within this group I have helped plan professional development trainings, collaborative PLC
time, and the multiple measures process. I have been a part of the Social Committee and a member of
the Student Study Team for the past two years. I was the Cutten-Ridgewood School Foundation treasurer
for one year and currently still a board member, where we collaborate with the community, parents, and
school staff to fund important projects and employees within the district.

My greatest strengths include collaborative leadership, strategic planning, empowering educators to

develop their leadership and instructional skills, setting high academic and behavior expectations for
students, development in technology, and identification and implementation of curriculum and educational
programs. I have created strong working relationships with administrators, teachers, staff, parents, and
students within the Cutten School District. I aspire to create a safe and welcoming school culture, a
culture that sets high expectations for all involved.

When I applied for a teaching position at Cutten School, I wrote in my cover letter that I was ready to
come home, from teaching 6 hours away. I am now back in Humboldt County, and ready to move into
administration at the school I now consider home. I would like to prove that all of my experience and
skills are prepared to take on this role. I have every belief that I will be a successful administrator and
school leader. I would appreciate the opportunity to have an interview. Thank you for your time and
consideration.

Sincerely,

Lauren Bryie
