What I know.
1. I know that when adult students are
not involved in lecture, the student
will get distracted and wander about
everything except for the lecture
that is occurring. From my personal
experience, after hearing repetitive
information, it can be easy to ignore
a speaker due to lack of interest. It
is like the experience of watching a
movie for a 2nd time; we may already
know what is going to be said or
what the outcome is so we tend to
not laugh at what was meant to be
funny, not be afraid of something
that was meant to be scary, or not
get emotional during a dramatic
scene. It is imperative to be
introduced to new information to
intrigue the adult student.
2. I know that the adult student will not
learn if they feel that the
information is not needed. Adult
learners tend to seek education that
will enhance their careers or
lifestyles; therefore, if the student
feels like they are wasting time
learning something that will not be

will become a passive participant in
