Bill France Sr. was the founder of NASCAR. He moved from Washington D.C. to Daytona
Beach in 1934. This is the place he first started focusing on racing. Then later, in 1947, Bill
decided to form an organized racing association with many other drivers due to too large of
crowds and various rules.

The first strictly stock race which was held on June 19, 1949. This was only two months after
the first NASCAR sanctioned race in Daytona. Over 13,000 fans were in attendance of the race.
The race was originally won by Glenn Dunnaway, but he was disqualified and Jim Roper was
given the first-place prize of $2,000.

This image shows people mocking the 18th amendment of prohibition. The 18th amendment was
the reason bootlegging originated. Since beer was more difficult to make, most people bought
into the transaction and transportation of hard liquors such as whiskey and moonshine. Over a
ten-year period since the amendment was put into effect, alcohol consumption increased 39%.
