PRESS RELEASE on Status of CMJ UNIVERSITY

24 Nov, Shilong , Dr. Manjeet Kaur Kaushal, Vice Chancellor [VC] of CMJ University called a
press conference at Press Club of Guwahati to clear any doubts regarding the current status of the CMJ
University . CMJ University was established under the CMJ University ACT 2009 , [ACT no- 04 of
2009 ] in year 2009 through proper official process and It was the Assembly of Meghalaya who
enacted this as an act and consequently the law and formed a State Private University i..e CMJ
University, Shilong.

Unfortunately the CMJ University has been targeted too much negatively in last few years and suffered
huge pain in battling the uncalled legal process for its existence. The fact is known to all. However it
got the final long awaited respite justice from the SUPREME Court of India and the HIGH COURT of
Meghalaya as well.

Ex- Governor put imprudent and illogical orders in year 2012 tso shut the university acting against the
interest of the University and later on the same orders were questioned by the High Court directly and
he was reprimanded for such illegal orders against the University.

In last 3-4 years the Govt was not able to produce any convincing evidence in the court. The VC
requested all the media persons that the reputation of the university lost under high handedness of the
government. It could not be returned or justified, so the situation solicits accountability of all Media
persons to spread the original fact to the public as per the order of the Supreme Court and the High
Court of Meghalaya.

The VC of CMJ University firmly affirmed that The CMJ University is properly running from its
permanent campus as per the official guidelines with all its proper academic and administrative
activities in full swing under the order of High Court of Meghalaya and also the Supreme Court of
India. For the fact and credential, the VC gave the copy of verdicts to all media persons for proper
perusal. And she solicited again for proper support through better media mileage to gain its lost
reputation; accrued because of the high-handedness of the government of Meghalaya.
