(01) Facing threats to Buddhism and
sovereignty of our nation
1. Protest against destruction of Buddha statues in 7th of January
2017 in Trincomalee.

2. Destruction of archeological sites and subsequent
unlawful and forcible occupation of Buddhist places of
worship in Trincomalee.
a) Gemunupura (Sennamalli) - Destruction of two
dagabas and construction of a play ground.
b) Tissapura (Mollipothana) Randala vihara destroyed
and converted to a Muslim burial ground.
c) Pashana Pabbatha Viharaya in Kalladi
Attempts to chase away the Buddhist monk by NGOs.
(Informed appropriate officials, but no action taken.)
3. (a) Protest against recommendations of Lal
Wijenaike committee report on constitutional
amendments.

Loss of unitary state of our nation


Loss of foremost place to Buddhism

3. (b) Protest against the recommendations
of the 6 parliamentary sub committees on
constitutional reforms.
Creation of 9 federal states with provision
of land, police, judiciary, education, finance &

Appointment of the Governor on the
recomendation of the Chief Minister.
Profound weakening of the role of the
President and the Central Government.

nation and to safeguard the Buddha Sasana.
