Gay Rights: Why Democracy Matters

According to Omar Encarnacin, democracy is a key factor when discussing the global

divide on homosexuality. He goes on in the reading, stating that the acceptance of

homosexuality in ones society is determined on the condition and state of the government. He

also states that the topic of gay rights provides opportunities that provide the involvement of the

government in its society. The topic of gay rights correlates with the topic of social justice

because it is very a popularly discussed as well as an equally controversial topic in todays

society. There are many sides to the topic of gay rights, whether to support it or to reject it in our

society.
