Cervix: Opening from the uterus to the vagina

Clitoris: A small, pea-shaped bump at the front of the labia that contains erectile
tissue
Estrogen: Hormone responsible for secondary sex characteristics and sex drive in
females
Fertilization: The union, joining together, of male and female sex cells
Menstruation: The process of passing blood and tissue lining of the uterus from the
female body
Menstrual cycle: The 28 day process of menstruation and ovulation in women
Ova: Female eggs
Ovaries: Holds a womans eggs. Produce female sex hormones and store and
releases the female eggs.
Fallopian tubes: two tubular structures leading from the ovaries to the uterus.
Location for fertilization.
Ovulation: When the ovaries release a mature egg
Progesterone: Builds up the lining of the uterus in preparation for the fertilized egg.
Female Urethra: Below the clitoris, opening to the bladder
Uterus: Place where the baby grows and is nourished
Vagina: Passageway between the uterus and the outside body, main purposes are
sexual intercourse, channel for menstrual flow, and the birth canal
Endometrium: The lining of the uterus
Cowper's glands: Behind the base of the penis, which secretes fluid to make
semen and neutralize acid during sexual excitement
Ejaculatory duct: A short straight tube that passes into the prostate gland and
opens into the urethra
Epididymis: The structure that forms a mass over the back and upper part of each
testicle
Penis: The organ which carries both semen and urine out of the body
Prostate gland: A gland that helps make semen
Scrotum: Pouch-like sac holding both testicles in a separate compartment that hang
underneath the penis
Semen: seminal fluid released from the penis
Seminal Vesicles: Secrete a fluid that nourishes and enables sperm to move
Sperm: The microscopic cells produced by the males testicles which fertilize a
womans eggs
Testicles: Two glands in the male, located in the scrotum, produce testosterone
Testosterone: the male reproductive hormone made by the testicles, which controls
sperm production and sexual urge
Male Urethra: Dual purpose tube through the penis that both semen and urine pass
through to leave the body
Vas Deferens: Long, thin tubes used to store and transport sperm
