A pedometer was attached to my socks for about 24 hours to collect the data such as
the number of steps that I have walked and numbers of calories burned with a body weight of
39 kg. I collected the data for every one hour. The data was then tabulated:

Time Number of steps taken No. of calories burned (Kcal)

9:00 AM 91 3.33
10:00 AM 307 11.24
11:00 AM 412 15.08
12:00 PM 1030 37.70
1:00 PM 1800 65.88
2:00 PM 1830 66.98
3:00 PM 2632 96.33
4:00 PM 3012 110.24
5:00 PM 3124 114.34
6:00 PM 3225 118.04
7:00 PM 3298 120.71
8:00 PM 3350 122.61
9:00 PM 3821 139.85
10:00 PM 3843 140.65
11:00 PM 3898 142.67
12:00 AM 3936 144.06
1:00 AM 3936 144.06
2:00 AM 3936 144.06
3:00 AM 3936 144.06
4:00 AM 3936 144.06
5:00 AM 3936 144.06
6:00 AM 3954 144.72
7:00 AM 3985 145.85
8:00 AM 4401 161.08
Table 1
From Table 1, the data was then translated into a line graph of the number of steps
taken against time (h) to show the increment of the data collected:

A
scattered graph (Graph 2 below) is then plotted in order to add a trendline to obtain the
graphs function:

A graph of amount of calories burned (Kcal) against time (h) is also plotted:

Graph 3
From Graph 1, Graph 2 and Graph 3, we can know that the amount of calories burned
increases as the number of steps increases. Between 12 A.M. until 6 A.M., the gradient of the
graph is zero because there were no steps taken. The graph has the equation of y = 162.16x
+ 935.32.
