Bob Rosenberger and I had fun last Sunday playing Satan (me, on the left) and Jesus (Bob,
on the right) in a fictitious dialogue. We pretended that the devil appeared to Jesus not only
at the beginning of his ministry as reported in the Gospels, but also after the Resurrection of
Jesus when Jesus went to be with his
disciples in Galilee. You can listen to the
dialogue on our website (spoiler alert:
Jesus wins the debate). This was for Holy
Humor Sunday, and I thank Bob for being
a good sport and doing a great impression of Jesus. Thanks
to all the others who participated in Holy Humor Sunday. I
believe every Sunday ought to have at least a little Holy
Humor, because Jesus taught us to be joyful followers.
John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, wrote a tract
called, The Character of a Methodist. In it, he wrote about
the joy which marks our character as disciples of Jesus
Christ, and why that is. Remember, his use of English is
more than 250 years old. "What then is the mark? Who is a Methodist, according to your own account?" I
answer: A Methodist is one who has "the love of God shed abroad in his heart by the Holy Ghost given unto
him;" one who "loves the Lord his God with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his mind, and with all
his strength. God is the joy of his heart, and the desire of his soul; which is constantly crying out, "Whom have
I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee! My God and my all! Thou art the
strength of my heart, and my portion for ever! He is therefore happy in God, yea, always happy, as having in
him "a well of water springing up into everlasting life," and overflowing his soul with peace and joy. "Perfect

"Mother Knows Best: The Power of

Northeast District Day Apart meeting from

Oberholtzer Scholarship Fund
Update
The Oberholtzer Scholarship fund has recently
encouraged a young man who is entering the process of ministry by
rewarding him with $1000.00 gift for his education. This young man has
completed the application process, recommendations from our
congregation as well as all the pertinent school information that is
required. As everyone knows, tuition for continuing education is costly.
We were so happy to help with this gift.
Our church has been so blessed and gifted with many in our
congregation who have gone onto the pastoral ministry and service
ministry in so many various ways spreading Gods message to others.
The scholarship fund originated shortly after Pastor Bob Oberholtzer
passed away. This fund has helped many of our congregation pursue
their education and ongoing ministry.
There is another application in process, however after this gift; our funds
will be quite depleted. We encourage anyone who wishes to contribute
to the fund to use the envelopes marked Oberholtzer Scholarship Fund
(found on the Welcome Desk) to help and encourage those being called
by God into His ministry.who knows, it could be you!
