Content Area/Grade/Standards/Topics Addressed: SS3H1 The student will explain the political roots of our
modern democracy in the United States of America.

1. Identify the influence of Greek architecture (columns on the Parthenon, U. S. Supreme Court
building), law, and the Olympic Games on the present.



Brief Description of Learning Experience: As you address the standards, what will students and teachers do? How will
the project be introduced? How long will it take to complete? What audience will use/care about the multimedia projects
students are creating? How broad is this audience? How will student work be assessed and by whom? Who will provide
feedback to students about their work? (Overview should be a minimum of 2 paragraphs)

This project will probably take a week to complete in order to make sure that students have adequate time to create their own
projects. This project falls in line with a third grade, social studies standard. This standard involves the students learning about
the importance of the Olympic Games and how it has influenced the present. This will be an introductory lesson for the students.
In order for this project to be introduced, I will be showing them my video about the Olympics. This video was created by me
through Movie Maker.

The movies that students create will be used and viewed by the teacher in order to assess their knowledge about the topic. The
students will be given the ability to present and collaborate with the class about their own movies/projects. I will be providing the
students with feedback about their projects and will work with them through it as they work on their project to ensure they are
following all privacy and safety guidelines.

Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why? This lesson is going to
allow students to create their own products and collaborate with others which in turn will allow the students to reach
a level 4 of LoTi.


Importance of technology: In order for students to be successful with this project, the use of multimedia is imperative! This
project could not be completed without technology because the students are literally being asked to use a multimedia source on
their computer/laptop. If students were unable to use technology, they would be losing the opportunity to really be engaged and
focused on the topic at hand. By allowing them to use technology to create their own products, they are being given the
opportunity to express their knowledge in a new way other than a quiz or on a worksheet.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: Any time a student or teacher uses technology, there is the possibility of there being
some issues with internet safety or copyright issues. It is imperative that as an educator, you are instructing the students on how
to be safe when using the internet and how to follow specific rules to make sure there is no copyright infringement. I would make
sure that both my students and parents understand what needs to be done to protect their child in order to make sure that everyone
is on the same page. I would also make sure to monitor and really go over each students work to make sure there is no privacy
being infringed upon.
