Mock Teaching Lesson Plan

First graders are reviewing for their spelling test today. They received their words on Monday
and today is test day. This activity is meant to review the spelling and definitions of the words
and to prepare students for the test at the end of the lesson.

Overview

Subject Spelling

Materials Computer with necessary programs

Objectives To help students review their spelling words and definitions to prepare for the
test.

3. Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding
words.
a. Know the spelling-sound correspondences for common consonant digraphs.
b. Decode regularly spelled one-syllable words.

5. Add drawings or other visual displays to descriptions when appropriate to
clarify ideas, thoughts, and feelings.

Language Standards
2. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization,
punctuation, and spelling when writing.
d. Use conventional spelling for words with common spelling patterns and for
frequently occurring irregular words

Teaching Timeline

Step 0 Create easy to follow Prezi, where the students have all the website links

Introduction Opening - Remind the students of the words that have been working on. Have
students read the words out loud.(2-3 mins)

Step 1 Have the students go to the website aaspell.com (1-2 mins)

Step 2 Once on the website, guide the students through the first game where they
read the word and then type it out (3-4 mins)

Step 3 After the students have mastered that game let them explore the other games
available on the website (5-6 mins)

Step 4 Next review the definitions to the rods and have the students read them out
loud (3-4 mins)

Step 5 Show the students the next website: Educaplay.com , explain the rules for the
matching game (2-3 mins)

Step 6 Have the students play the matching game, make sure to keep score of the
points (10 mins)

Wrap- up Guide the students to the kahot website and have them put in the tests code.
Once all students are there, go through each question and let them answer(5-7
mins).

Back up Activity If the students finish the activity early, have them complete a story jumper.
They will create a story using their spelling words.
