Rationale: Describe how this lesson is developmentally appropriate:
Planning

What skills and content are needed to master the lesson objective(s)?
The students have been working through a throwing and catching
unit. They will need to know the proper underhand
throwing/rolling technique which will be and has been
demonstrated and practiced prior to the activity.
How is this objective relevant to students, their lives, and/or the real world?
Throwing/rolling are great skills to acquire for furthering oneself
in athletics and society in general.
Working with others is a great life skill that the students must
demonstrate throughout their daily lives.
What types of instructional strategies will you use to deliver the content?
Hands-on learning will be used to teach the how to play the games
as well as some direct instruction to demonstrate technique,
gameplay, rules, and etiquette.
How does your lesson reflect educational theories/theorists?
This lesson reflects constructivism which means the students learn
by doing. They use schema to connect new knowledge to existing
schema to understand the material.

Pre-Assessment
How will you measure students readiness/level of understanding prior to
teaching this lesson? (e.g., KWL chart, SMARTboard responder quiz, whole-class
Q&A with response cards, individual student pre-test, etc.).
Q&A will be used at the beginning of the activity to ensure the
students understand the activity and what is asked of them.
Remember practicing underhand throwing/rolling last class?

Have you heard of a Grandfather clock?
What noise does it make? (Tick Tock)
How will the students demonstrate that they have attained the goals of the
lesson?

the activities.
I will observe them to ensure they are staying on task,

I will ask the students how their day is going.
I will then proceed to ask what they remember from the last
lesson.
Then Ill tell the students that we are going to start with a
warm-up activity (underhand throwing/rolling) and introduce
the main activity (Tick Tock Goes the Clock).
I will state the rules for the warm-up activity (underhand
throwing/rolling practice).
I will demonstrate the underhand throwing/rolling technique:
1. Face target 2. Step with opposite foot forward 3. Tick
arm goes back like a grandfather clock 4. Tock arm swings
forward to release the ball.
I will pair the students up and get them started.
