T he sustainable development the issue of our time and the challenge for the modern cities.

A green consciousness is said to be part of the way of life of the most of the Danish people. In the last decades, the
Danish governments supported laws and policies for the environment and for the improving of a green capitalism.
The city of Copenhagen is one of the top rated cities of the world for the consistency of its environment oriented
policies, and for the eco friendly behaviors of its citizens.
Copenhagen city attracts thousands of you young people every year. They moved in Copenhagen with the purpose
of studying, working or the two both. They are also attracted by the reputation of modernity and livability of the city
and want to experience the CPH way of life.
Many of them work or study in areas related with environmental problem. The number students that choose to orient
their studies on the sustainable development is increasing.
Indeed the sustainable development is global issues the Danish researchers are getting more and more focused
on.
THE WEB SITE CPH SUSTAINABLE DAYS IS CONCEIVED FOR THIS TARGET AUDIENCE, young urban international
people, oriented to the environment issues.
CPH SD is a web site able to portray the status of sustainability of the city and be a practical guide to take
advantage
of it. The web site show what the theoretical concept of sustainability means when it get concrete in the everyday
life.
CPH SD is a source of documentation and links, and a display of the green services and products. Using W2
application and database technologies, CPH SD is also able to connects the students with the green organizations
and companies help them to orient their future carriers.

What does it practically means? The web site has 3 goals

1. TO DOCUMENT AND TO INFORM about policies, services, commercial activities, cultural activities sustainability
oriented. Link to news and web sources about the sustainable Copenhagen.

2. TO CONNECT the sustainability students and their potential employers, the companies and the organizations that
have to deal with ecological business of services

3. TO GIVE TO THE USERS PRACTICAL TOOLS to make use of the city in an environment friendly way. The users
can calculate the ecological footprint of their lifestyle.

How? The web site is divided in 4 section:


- The consumes and the market: the page provides information about the Danish company involved in green business,
fairly trade commerce, ecological products. The Danish local and sustainable agriculture and industry.
- Energy and transport: information, links and documentation about the transport policies an the energy regulations in
the Copenhagen municipality. The massive usage of the bicycle as part of a culture of respect of the environment.
The section will host a Google map able to show the user transport itinerary and the cost on terms of pollution and
energy consumes, and suggests different alternatives.
- Landscape and buildings: and avant-garde in Denmark. Copenhagen could offers many example of eco friendly
architecture and urban planning. The page will be provide the many links to blogs and institutional web site about the
sustainable architecture. The web page will provide a navigable Google maps with many locations where the user
could admire examples of this kind of architecture.
-Sustainability and culture: cultural events, forum, blogs, educations. Everything, organized in CPH have to deal with
the green consciousness and the environment related issues.

HOME PAGE: the crucial facts on the environment in the city: the news on the climate congress, national laws for green start
up companies and funds for environmental research and public work. There will be an overview of the web site contents. On
every page of the site, there will be access to the Copenhagen’s green companies and Organization database.
The organization can access and fill out a special registration form and insert tags that describe their business area and the
competence expected from applicants.

SECTION 1, CONSUMING
The latest news regarding the green products e.g.: the downloadable Økologisk Landsforening Magazine, the article from the
Fairtrade Foundation web site, article about a new green product on the Danish market, report on the latest environmental research,
the latest Danish green technology (e.g. solar panels) and new rules from City Hall on waste and water consumption.
Google Maps: allow a product type selection (e.g. ecological coffee) and shows its availability in Copenhagen stores. In this
way it shows an immediate and intuitive way the level of complexity on the green market in Copenhagen territory. It can help
consumers to know where to buy green products.

SECTION 2: TRANSPORTING
Survey sent research about the Copenhagen transport and impact of the Copenhagen industry on the city environment.
Documentation on the pollution level compared to other cities.
Google Maps: The user has the chance to select transportation and make it his own daily itinerary. The applicator can calculate
the ecological impact of the itinerary (e.g. CO2 emission level, energy consumption). The choice of the daytime is also important:
using the survey and data from the transport ministry. Each user has a different impact on the energy consumption. The Map
converges in an Ecological Footprint Quiz: How much energy do you consume? How many hours a day is my computer on?
How long do I watch television? And microwave? The tool calculates the impact of the ecological footprint of the each user:
low, medium, high or very high.

SECTION 3: BUILDING
The entire project is about the sustainable architecture in Copenhagen. It has pictures and videos of architectures, parks and
the green areas. Google Maps and Panoramio: a map with pictures that indicate all the places in Copenhagen that have placed
examples of sustainable architecture and buildings and the green areas.

SECTION 4: SUSTAINABLE THINKING


Congress and conferences, exposition, lectures, association, links to blogs, associations. Everything that has to deal with the
cultural environment the city can offer.

PRIMARY USER PROFILE


Rafael Romero Miranda

Rafael is 26 years old and comes from Spain. He is


graduated Economy Sciences in Cordoba University
and he has moved in Copenhagen last year to study
for a Master Degree in Environmental and Natural
Resource in Economics in Copenhagen University.
He lives in Cristhianshavn and he got a part time job
in Den Spanske Stats Turistbureau.
He use bicycle for almost every destination in
the city. With some colleagues and some of his
fellow students has formed a soccer team called
Danisquidad. They met every sunday to practise in
a park near DR Byen. He like travelling, in the last
year he went to visit some friends of him in New
York and San Paulo.
In the last years he has been travelling a lot in South
America.
He is interested in the international policy about the
development and the environment, and he would
like to work for some international organization
that provides founds and financing for start up
green companies. He also follow with attention the
development of Danish and Scandinavian market
about of sustainable and ecologic products.

SECONDARY USER PROFILE


Katherine Broda

Katherine is 25 years old and comes from Calgary,


Canada, where she studied Environmental Design. Now
she lives in Islands Brygge and works in an architecture
firm.
Katherine loves architecture, design, food, south Asian
cultures, cooking by herself, buy green, fairly traded and
ecological products.
She prefer use the bicycle instead of the public transports,
maybe because she is found of the open air sports. In
Canada Katherine participated to many ski competitions
Even if she is living in Denmark since few mounts, she has
already visited Jutland, the Faroe Islands, Malmo, Oslo.
The many pictures of her travels are now are published
in her blog about the Scandinavian Landscapes.
During the week, when she comed back from work, she
like read the novel by Timothy Findley, Michael
Ondaatje and watch Indie movies.
She is member of Allanuck.com, a group of Canadian
expatriates in Denmark, she has been with them to a
couple of rock concerts. She usually spend cold winter
Sundays to the Danish Design Centre, the Danish Museum
of Design, the Louisiana Museum.
